Climate Change Humans have made a huge impact on freshwater areas and cold areas in general. Humans, being the terrible things that shouldn’t exist, mess up the climate and everything else in the world. Humans like to put waste and accidentally put runoff into our freshwater, which contaminates it as expected. That’s really bad considering there is very few freshwater resources in our world, and farmers letting their farm animals’ fecal matter into our freshwater is just depleting our resources even further. With our specific location, the Yukon River, we don’t have a lot of runoff from farms going into the glorious Yukon River. With the snow and ice around the Yukon River, we do see the climate change the savage human beings have caused with their industrial products and machines. The machines that we use cause carbon dioxide to be released into the atmosphere, leading to a buildup of carbon dioxide, causing the greenhouse effect and global warming, as most educated people should be well aware of. Something that most do not know is that the Yukon River dumps up to five tons of mercury into the arctic environment every year, and now the river is supposedly pumping from three to thirty-two times more mercury. This most likely relates to do with the melting permafrost of the Yukon River, a result in climate change, of which we are no doubt to be blamed for.
