DESCRIPTION OF BIOME The Yukon is a rather cold place, as well as home to heavily feathered and furred creatures. People in the 1890's used this land to mine minerals such as gold, but the extremities of this environment made it terribly difficult. More than often the people's greed cost them their lives. Most of the land is wilderness, but the reliance for wood for fuel as well as pollution from humans has taken it's toll. Vegetation is sparse due to the harsh cold as well as the poor soil, but aquatic plants thrive in the numerous lakes and rivers. Some of the animals that live in this environment are the grizzly bears, Dall sheep, lake trout, and the waterfowl. Most of the animals are hunted for food and clothing, as transporting foods and clothing items would be costly.
